I was diagnosed with a big incisional hernia in 2013 and had a Hernia repair surgery in Ireland in 2016 and a large Mesh was inserted. Unfortunately Surgery wasn’t a success and infection set in immediately after the surgery. 3 episodes of Sepsis, 4 sinus wounds in my abdomen with daily dressings where to be the story of my life for the next 6 years. Appointments were cancelled, deferred and then Covid came. In 2021 I saw two Professors in two different Hospitals in Ireland and they both declined repairing my abdomen (I didn’t have Private Health Insurance!). I was too high risk, too obese, too old and there was Covid!!!
At my wits end in chronic pain and now with an inflamed gallbladder (due to the mesh infection) I began to search the possibility of having surgery in Turkey. A google search brought me to Professor Aras Emre Canda.
Initially we corresponded Via E-mail and later by WhatsApp. Professor Aras’s fluent English, vast experience in Colorectal Surgery encouraged me to fly to Izmir and meet him. I was extremely impress with his knowledge, experience and efficiency. My husband and I discussed the procedure he proposed and after much discussion we felt confident enough to proceed with the surgery. The minor risks were minimal in comparison to the challenges I was living with everyday.
I had the surgery a week later from arriving at Kent Hospital at 8am. I have to say I was so impressed with the hospital, the staff, the cleanliness and efficiency. It was so professional. I had my surgery that day. It was extremely successful. Every patient had their own Suite which was immaculate and allowed a family member to stay with the patient at all times. The nursing care was superb (being a former nurse myself I knew the difference). The care and attention was an unbelievable experience. Now 7 weeks post operation fully recovered, wound fully healed no infection, no dressing!!!! A new lease of life for me. I have no hesitation in recommending anyone to the care of Professor Aras Emre Canda and his team. He changed my life for the better. Thank you Professor Aras and his Team.
